Frequently asked questions

Before a session, there are usually lots of questions that you may have. I have put together a list of frequently asked questions here for you to have a look through and a contact form at the bottom for anything that I haven’t answered. I am here to make sure that you are happy with my services so please don’t be shy to ask!

Where do I start?

First of all, you decide which service you would like.

For family and children photography, this is a choice of whether you would like just the children to be photographed or if you would like all members of the family to be involved- including pets!

If you’re expecting a baby, you will want to look at my maternity and newborn sessions.

Then choose when you would like to have the session. I offer week day shoots at a reduced rate and a limited number of weekend, bank  & school holiday sessions.

How do I book?

You could give me a call, send me a text or an email and I’ll come back to you as soon as I’m able. Let me know when you’d like to have the session and I’ll send you my available dates. Once we’ve agreed on a date, I’ll send the booking form and payment details. The full session fee is payable in order to secure your chosen date.

What should we wear?

Your session is not all about the clothes, but what you wear can transform your portraits from great to perfect! So you’ll want to put some thought into it. Think about where we’ll be shooting, you’ll want your outfits to complement the surroundings. Take inspiration from the location and the season! I find neutral colours work well for timeless elegance; whilst a rich pop of colour can add an interesting dimension. When you start layering different textures you’re on to a winner! A denim jacket over a soft cotton dress, a chunky knitted scarf with a blouse and jeans. A linen top with a statement neck piece. Feel free to send me some phone snaps of your potential outfits, I’m here to help!

  • Think classic
  • Layers are your friend
  • Be inspired by your home decor or shoot location
  • Avoid large logos, cartoon characters and bold clashing patterns
  • Create movement with flowing scarves or dresses
  • Textures create interest

For children’s sessions, why not let the child choose one of their outfits? It could be their favourite dressing up costume or something from their cupboard (a funky combo that you may never have chosen but will look awesome for them!) I am happy for you to bring up to 4 different outfit changes for them so that we can make sure that we get lots of different looks for your photographs.

For maternity sessions, I always recommend a plain vest as a base layer and work from there!

What happens if it rains?

It’s the UK, it happens! I’m not at all worried about the rain. We can stay inside, visit some cool locations that have cover or if it’s really stormy weather we can reschedule. I much prefer to chance and rainy photos can be just as beautiful. Think of all the accessories – hats, brollies and wellies!

What happens if my child is ill?

As a Mum to two girls myself, I am more than aware that bugs and illnesses just happen – frequently! The last thing I want is for you to be unhappy with your photographs because your child just wasn’t feeling right on the day. Let me know as soon as possible so we can reschedule and get another time booked in.

What should I bring?

For family and children sessions, please bring along snacks! There’s nothing quite like a hungry, grumpy child and that’s not the look we’re after! I’m happy to chill and take time to eat snacks, after all, being a model is hungry work.

With that in mind, make sure they’re not messy snacks and bring wipes to keep faces clean of crumbs.

You’re welcome to bring a favourite toy or blanket if you’re happy for them to be in the photographs or just to keep them company whilst we’re out and about. I often have toys help me to take the photos which the kids love!

Can you Photoshop me?

I edit all my photographs using Photoshop. As part of the service, I make sure that blemishes, scratches and spots are removed. More intricate editing can be done on request and is charged by the hour.

How do I view my photos and make an order?

So you’ve had your session and can’t wait to see your images.  A password protected, online viewing gallery will be ready within 2 weeks.

When the email lands in your inbox, grab yourself a coffee, sit back, relax and enjoy looking through them at your leisure. You can expect about 30-40 fully edited images to choose from.

From this gallery you can make your order easily by selection a collection and adding your photos. I’ll get notified that you’ve made your order and I’ll send the payment details over. Once payment has been made your photos will be ready to download or you can start getting excited about your prints/frames arriving in the next 4 weeks. You will get a lovely 10% off your order if you submit it within 3 days*.

*Only available to full session clients. Not available for mini-sessions.
